Mohammad Abu-Zaineh is the founder and coordinator of the AHEAD research Network. He is a Professor of Economics at Aix-Marseille University (AMU). He is also a research fellow at Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE). Prior to this, he was a research fellow at INSERM-SESSTIM, France, holding the INSERM-AMU Chair of Excellence in Health Economics and Policy (2013-2018). He was the Laureate of the SANTEMED project financed by the University Foundation A*Midex; the HEALTHCOV project financed by Campus France and the ANR funded project “Les Suds, Aujourd’hui II” Tackling Inequalities in Health and Access to Healthcare in the Middle East and North African Countries: Challenges of Measurement and Explanation».
Pr. Abu-Zaineh has received a Ph.D. in Economics and Public Administration from Aix-Marseille University in 2008 and has obtained an authorization to direct research ("Habilitation à diriger des recherches") from the same university in 2020. His areas of expertise include research on the measurement of socio-economic inequality; the economic evaluation of public policies; microeconometrics as well as health care financing and health insurance. In addition to his active participation in several international conferences he has published in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals including: Journal of Health Economics, Health Economics, Social Science and Medicine, The Lancet, Health Policy and Planning, Health Policy, International Journal of Health Economics and Management, and Research on Economic Inequality.
