The 12th World Congress in Health Economics

Call for abstracts: 2017 iHEA World Congress of Health Economics, 7-11 July 2017, Boston
iHEA is pleased to invite you to join us in Boston for the 12th World Congress in Health Economics:
Revolutions in the Economics of Health Systems. iHEA Congresses are well established as the forum to hear new and hopefully revolutionary work in health economics. Highlights of the program include the confirmed plenary presentations by Carol Propper and Daron Acemoğlu. In addition, the Scientific Committee in close collaboration with the Local Organizing Committee are developing a number of Special Organized Sessions.
There will also be an exciting pre-congress program on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 July 2017. You will have received separate calls for abstracts for three of these pre-congress sessions that will take the form of mini-conferences:
•    Behavioural economics and physician behaviour (abstract submissions close on 16 January 2017 – click here to submit an abstract
•    Frontiers of health economics research in Latin America (abstract submissions close on 30 January 2017  – click here to submit an abstract
•    Teaching health economics (abstract submissions close on 30 January 2017  – click here to submit an abstract

Abstract submissions for the main congress will close on 16 January 2017. We would like to encourage health economists to make submissions in the form of an individual abstract or in terms of an organised session.  Each parallel session will be 90 minutes, with a maximum of four presentations per session to ensure adequate time for discussion. Abstracts should focus on research that has not been published or accepted for publication at the time of abstract submission.  While individuals may submit more than one abstract, to foster diversity, each person will be restricted to presenting only one paper at the Congress.

In an attempt to ensure that every submission is reviewed by appropriate experts we ask all submitters to nominate the most relevant area of health economics from the list below as part of their submission:
1.     Production of health, health behaviours & policy interventions
2.     Demand & utilisation of health services
3.     Supply of health services
4.     Organisation of health care markets
5.     Health care financing & expenditures
6.     Economic evaluation of health
7.     Evaluation of policy, programs and health system performance
8.     Methodology
9.     Specific populations

In addition, the Scientific Committee has identified a number of specific research topics and encourages submission of individual abstracts that match one of the following:
•     Child development in less developed countries
•     Access to medicines in less developed countries
•     Big data and health economics
•     Improving outcome measurement in economic evaluation
•     Cost-effectiveness thresholds:  where are we now?
•     Shared Decision Making: The Patient Perspective
•     Implications of expanding access to mental health care
•     International comparisons of drug reimbursement approaches
•     The role of profit motivation in health care provision
•     Mixed public-private health systems

Successful abstracts related to these topics will be chosen to constitute what are being called Special Invited Sessions.  Abstracts that are not chosen for a Special Invited Session will still be eligible for inclusion in the program as part of other general parallel sessions. Further details explaining each of these topics are provided HERE.
